INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES

Internationals from all over the world attend Calvary on a regular basis. We minister cross-culturally to bring the gospel to the international community in the greater Winston-Salem area.

English As A Second Language

As an outreach to internationals, English as a Second Language (ESL) is offered Wednesday evenings at Calvary Central from 6:00p–7:30p (September-May).

Registration for classes begin January 10 at 6:00p in the lobby of the B-building. An informal assessment will help determine which level a student should take.  All levels are welcome, as classes are offered from “No English,” to conversational and proficient levels.

For information, contact the Missions office at 336.714.5455.

Citizenship Classes

People who have lived in the United States for 5 years, and obtained their Green Card are eligible for Citizenship to the United States of America.  This class teaches the history of the United States, reviews what will be on the Citizenship Test, and assists students in filling out the N-400 Application for Naturalization.  The ability to speak English is a major component of the Naturalization Process, so students must be at a Level 2 of ESL to take the course.

Bible Fellowship

Bible fellowship classes in Spanish, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Karen, and English meet on a weekly basis. International family dinners and activities are held several times a year to foster fellowship. If you would like information on attending any of our classes or programs or would like to become a ministry volunteer, please call the Missions office at 336.714.5455.

DEAF MINISTRY

What will you find when you visit with us? You will find lots of signs of life! Our Family is made up of a full range of ages from newborns to senior adults. We are Deaf, Oral, Hard of Hearing, Hearing, Interpreters, White, Black, Hispanic, Asian. All of our programs are done in sign and voiced for hearing attendees.  We have events that will allow us to fellowship and eat together and have many opportunities to learn more about Jesus. English is not a problem for us, because most of our Bible study materials are especially designed and written for our ministry. We are a caring group of people who want to love, worship and follow Jesus Christ. We provide car transportation to our deaf worship services. We teach several sign languages classes (with deaf and hearing teachers!). We desire to reach out to your entire family.
