Pastor Search Updates

March 2012

The Pastor Search Committee deeply appreciates the faithful prayers and support from our Calvary fellowship of believers. Thanks to all; however, now is the time to raise your prayer support to an even higher level. In fact the Pastor Search Committee has raised our own level of prayer by choosing Monday mornings as a time of concentrated fasting and prayer. We have all committed to this time, generaly between 5am and 9am, to substitute our normal hunger for food with a hunger for God and complete dependence upon Him to meet our needs. If you choose to join us in this time of fasting and prayer, please drop us an email.

The process that we are experiencing as a Committee has been and continues to be challenging, yet rewarding. Our passion for God’s Word and His guidance is higher than any of us has ever experienced. We are claiming the promises of Scripture in our meetings and in our regular communications with one another. Truly we are claiming James 4:7-8; “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

As reported in previous updates, our Committee has completed our initial study of the current state of Calvary Baptist Church and its ministries. We have also completed our initial studies concerning a profile for the position of Senior Pastor and we are now ready to begin reviewing candidates. We stand together very confident that God is in control and will lead us to the man who is already being prepared to be our next Pastor.

February 2012

Your Pastor Search Committee continues to meet weekly towards our common goal of finding God’s man to be our Senior Pastor.

We have spent quite a bit of time analyzing the current state of Calvary Baptist Church and understanding the strengths and challenges that we face. In light of all the information that we have deliberated over, we are now moving forward to develop a profile of a Pastor/Shepherd who can lead our congregation beyond the current state and into the future.

We are excited about the man that God has already chosen, a man after God’s own heart, who is wholly surrendered and reconciled to God. An over-arching truth that the Pastoral Search Committee has learned since November of 2011 is that the greatest days of Calvary lie ahead. We are confident that God is in control and will guide our steps in the days to come.

It has now been one month since the Pastoral Search Committee has been formed and approved by the Church. We have met five (5) times since our approval. Our meetings thus far have been focused on getting to know one another, getting organized for our work and praying together. In addition we are diligently working on Step 2 of our guiding process, which is developing a church profile. As a part of this particular process, we are meeting with some of our current staff and Pastors to get their perspectives on the current state of our church.

The Multi-Campus Celebration marked a historic night in the life of Calvary Baptist Church. Following a detailed report from Dr. Gary Chapman on the process the Deacon's took to arrive at the nominations for the Pastoral Search Committee, the church voted to approve the Deacon recommendation. The Pastoral Search Committee was then invited to the center stage platform and was surrounded by the Deacons and the Church Staff for a time of prayer led by Dr. Chapman. And now, the work begins for the Pastoral Search Committee. Several meetings of the newly established Pastoral Search Committee are already scheduled for November as the team will work to organize and chart their course for the days and weeks ahead. Dr. Chapman encouraged our fellowship to be faithful in prayer support.

MESSAGE FROM DR. CHAPMAN

"On November 9, 2011 at our Multi-Campus Celebration, the church elected the Pastoral Search Committee and they have now begun their work. On that occasion, I challenged the church to pray for this committee daily.
I believe that if we pray, God will give them the needed wisdom to find His choice for our next Pastor. Our confidence is in God. It is His church and we are His people. We can trust Him to guide us."
