Recreation


AVAILABLE FOR CHILDREN ///

  • Upward Basketball & Cheerleading offers league play for 1st-6th grade boys & girls and volunteer leadership opportunities for adults, parents and older youth. Program runs October through the end of February. All games played on Saturday with 1 practice scheduled during the week. Practice day varies weekly due to gym availability.   • Hoops 4 Him is an inter-church basketball league for Jr. & Sr. High boys and girls. Saturday is game day at various church gyms in Winston-Salem. Registration is early November with game play running December through March.Click here to go to the Hoops 4 Him website to get your basketball team’s schedule.   • Discovery Quest is a summercare daycamp for boys and girls who have completed grades K-7 beginning June through August. We offer the flexibility of choosing a full week, a partial week, or single day per week use. Activities include bowling, crafts, field trips, indoor Putt Putt, library, movies, outdoor sports, singing, Vacation Bible School, and Wednesday swimming. Camp operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM. Cost is $140/full week or $40/day. Click here to request a brochure

MEN'S Basketball LEAGUE ///

Game play is Thursday night at Calvary. League play is November through April. 3 levels of play: “A” competition league, “B” recreation league, and over 35 league. League organization meeting is October 29, 7:00 pm in the high school cafeteria. League fee established after coaches meeting. League play begins 2nd Thursday of November. Schedules: A League, B League, C League

Fitness ///

  • PILATES: A non-impact stretch, strength, and flexibility exercise class. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 8:30 am . In the CAC. NO childcare. Fee($48) by 8 week cycle or $2 a class.
  • SHAPE-UP: 45 minute class to stretch, strengthen, and get your heart pumping using chairs, balls, or rubber bands. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday . 9:00 am . Aerobics Room. No fee.
  • CARDIO-SCULPT: A moderate to high cardio level class with moderate impact. Instructors use weights, resistance bands, resist-a-balls, step aerobics, and land aerobics combos in this 60 minute workout. Tuesday & Thursday . 8:30 am (with childcare provided). Fee($48) by 8 week cycle or $2 a class.
  • BOOT CAMP: One hour military style work out challenges body, mind, and spirit. Training Officer, Bob Hines. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday . 5:30-6:45 am . AROC (gym for inclement weather or temperatures below 40). Fee ($20) by 8 week cycle.

GOLF ///

The Church Challenge is a Ryder Cup style tournament of local church teams. Event is held at Oak Valley Golf Course, Friday, April 23, 2010. Food, fun and prizes are a part of the event. Costs are kept to a minimum.

SOFtball ///

A men’s league and COED league offer recreation in a wholesome, safe, family-oriented, and Christian environment. Teams from other churches and selected non-church teams are welcome to participate in league play. Game times: 6:30, 7:30, or 8:30 pm. Men's Leagues Cost: $400/team; Season: 3 Round Robins = 15 games /team; play each team 3 times. COED League Cost is $10/player. Men’s League registers 3rd Sunday in February. COED League registers in March.

VolleyBall ///

Adult Coed League offers recreation and competition level league play in a Christ-like environment. Officiated games play Monday nights in Gym 2. Cost per team $175.

BLOOD DRIVE ///

Our next blood drive is Tuesday, May 11. 9:00 am - 6:30 pm in the Scout Building. SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
Please fill out the required donor form as requested. You will be prompted to enter a sponsor code in order to view our upcoming blood drives. The sponsor code for Calvary Baptist Church is 2207. Select the blood drive date desired and choose from available appointment times.

Twin City Sillies /// 

An outreach and evangelism clown group that brings laughter and fun to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, international festivals and is available for ministry at other community events. Training in the clowning skills of face painting, balloon sculpting, pocket magic, walk-arounds and planning for future events happens twice a month. They meet every 1st and 3rd Monday at 7:00 pm at Doug Hill’s home (768.6954)
