20:20 Vision

20:20 Vision from Generation to Generation is a time to pause and reflect on where God has brought Calvary Baptist Church from her founding on September 19, 1919 until today. It is also a moment to look ahead and see where God may be leading us in the years ahead.

Calvary has a rich heritage of faith as those who have gone before us believed God to do things they could only envision. That is their legacy to us. Today, we remember those who invested their lives and their treasure for the gospel through Calvary so that this ministry would continue from generation to generation. As we look back, we can see that we are the heirs of that legacy. Yet it is our privilege and responsibility to look forward and ensure that God’s work through this ministry is passed on, even stronger, to the next generation.

In light of that, Calvary is launching 20:20 Vision. Under God’s guidance and His Word as our compass, it is our prayer that we will move forward in the next ten years with a God-sized vision. This is a task that we want to do together. It will require much prayer, humility, boldness and wisdom. It will also call forth our highest generosity. We have a stewardship of the gospel and a ministry that we have been given from our Lord.

A Note From Pastor Gilbert///

I have asked the ProVision Foundation to assist the Leadership Team in a process of strategic planning for the church. Over the next months, we will look at every aspect of Calvary’s mission and ministry through a structured process. As we join together in prayer, there will be a thorough evaluation of where we are today, where we believe God wants to take us in the next decade, and how to get there. This process will involve both staff and lay leadership and its character will be one of speaking truth in love. The congregation will be kept informed on the planning structure and progress.

Thanksgiving: Thanking God for leading Calvary, His body, and using multiple gifts in ministry.
Prayer: Pray often for wisdom, direction, humility, unity, and boldness for the planning teams.
Encouragement: Encourage those you know who are investing their time and skills in planning.
Thoughtful Sharing: When asked by the planning team, share your thoughtful perspective of the topic.
Stewardship: Participate in Bible Fellowship as we consider the biblical call to stewardship.
Sacrifice: Adjust every area of life to align with the call of God.

HOW YOU CAN PRAY ///

Wisdom: To discern how God wants us to participate in His Kingdom, in the 21st Century.
Humility: To honestly evaluate ourselves and our ministry in the light of His holiness and our tendency towards sinfulness.
Love for one another: To continue steadfast in our love and care for the well being of each other.
Unity: To continue to work to maintain our unity of heart and mind.
Boldness: To expect great things from God, and to attempt great things with God.
