1:27 Now

For our family, adoption has been one of the most profound “word pictures” of the gospel lived out. We were drawn to the idea of adoption early in our marriage, even before having 3 biological children in great part because of what we felt that God was speaking to us... For us, adopting our daughter has been one of the greatest blessings of obedience in striving to follow His Commands to live out not only James 1:27, but also seeking to flesh out what He has done for us as undeserving people that He now calls His own children. We too, were once “living as orphans”; however, we also have been adopted and redeemed by our God. Just as we can rejoice in being the recipients of God’s grace to us, so we hope that the adoption of our daughter Grace into our family is a picture of that love, joy, and acceptance that can only be satisfied in knowing and being in relationship with our “Abba”!

145 Million Orphans and Waiting Children...
It's a big number, what's God's plan?

1:27 Now is a ministry started at Calvary Baptist Church because of a God-given passion for the orphans of this world and a deep desire to live out James 1:27 which says, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Our goal is to motivate and equip the Body of Christ to respond to God's invitation to care for orphans through local and international mission opportunities and wrap around support for foster families.

This ministry provides ongoing encouragement and resources for families who feel called to adopt or foster a child through:

  • Adoptive Family Registry
  • Periodic Worships & Conferences
  • Pre and Post Adoption Education
  • MAPS Training (Foster Care)
  • Educational Resources

We provide venues where families can get together and celebrate the unique joys and honestly discuss the unique challenge that adoptive and foster families of ten face through:

  • Grace Connection (Quarterly Adoptive and Prospective Adoptive Family Fellowships)
  • Community Outreach
  • Family Registry
